Specimen Requirements

Serum, preferred

Lithium heparin, sodium heparin and EDTA plasma are acceptable

• Samples that will not be tested within 24 hours at room temperature or 7 days refrigerated should be stored frozen for up to 5 months at -20 °C (-4 °F). Serum and plasma samples may be subjected to up to five freeze-thaw cycles.
• Thoroughly mix samples by gentle inversion and bring to 15–30 °C (59–86 °F) before use.
