Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Plasma, citrated
Container/Tube: Light-blue top
Specimen Volume: Fill to notched line on tube
Specimen Minimum Volume: No less than notched line on tube.

Additional Information: If delay in transport >8 hours is anticipated, separate plasma from cells and freeze specimen for transport to the laboratory.

Specimen Transport Temperature

Ambient/Refrigerated Plamsa acceptable.   Plasma may be held at room temperature (20 5 °C) for a maximum of eight (8) hours or separated, double-spun, and frozen at -20 to -80 °C in a plastic tube.

Frozen plasma may be stored for two weeks at -30 °C
