Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Urine, 24 hour or random
Container/Tube: 24-hour urine container or random urine container
Specimen Volume: 1 mL
Collection Instructions (for the patient):

1. Discard the first urine taken at the beginning of the 24 hour period and collect all others including the one at the end of the of the time period.

Additional Information: 24 hour urine specimens refrigerated. Random urines will be accepted although there are no established normal values for shorter timed specimens. No preservative is necessary.
